A Day in the Life: Steve Widdrington from our Channel Sales Team

Curious about the world of Channel Sales? Look no further!

Following on from our first instalment of A Day in the Life with our Customer Experience Specialist Beth Huthart, today we’ve got Steve Widdrington in the hot seat! Steve is Aspire’s Channel Sales Manager, leading the Channel team through thick and thin. Over to you Steve…

08:30 – 09:30

The first thing I do when I start work is review my diary. This allows me to plan what I need to do for the day, figure out where my attention needs to be and understand what my priorities are. I do this every morning without fail and it really helps me set my day up right.

09:30 – 11:30

At the beginning of every week I make time for some brief one-to-ones with my team. It helps me understand what they’ve got on, how I can support them and gives everyone the opportunity to get on the same page.

11:30 – 12:30

Working in channel sales means that you get a lot of e-mails. It’s really important to stay on top of them and not let your inbox become over-crowded.

12:30 – 13:30

Lunch time and a well earned break. This is a really dynamic role and requires a lot of face time with other people, so it’s important to take a bit of time for yourself over lunch and relax a little bit.

13:30 – 14:30

At Aspire we get a lot of requests for quotes coming in and it’s important to respond as quickly as we can. Building a quote is much more than checking a spreadsheet and adding a couple of numbers together; it involves understanding the customer’s needs and providing a tailored solution. No matter how big or small an organisation is, we’ll always do our best to create a great fit.

14:30 – 15:30

Most days I’ll make some time to have a Teams meeting with a partner to catch up on active opportunities & new products. Channel Sales is a rapidly changing landscape, so I like to keep as up to date with our partners as possible. As Aspire continues to grow, we continue to add new products to our catalogue, so it’s always important to keep everyone up-to-date with our state of the art offerings.

15:30 – 17:00

Usually, I finish my afternoon with partner queries. This is a great way to wind the day down and make sure you’re heading home with everything in place for the next day. At Aspire we’re lucky to have a wide variety of partners, so there’s always at least a few queries to get to by the end of the day.

17:00

Home time!
